Interior House Painting Tips
Here are a few tips to consider when painting the inside of your home. Picking a color can be the most daunting part of any potential paint job but also the most fun. Remember to look around your house and take into account the permanent and semi permanent fixtures before choosing a color. Paint is cheap when compared to replacing cabinets, tile, countertops, etc. Happy house painting.
Color is affected by the primary and secondary sources of light in a given room. It is important to take these factors into consideration when going through a color change.
Sunlight varies throughout the day and can make color more golden in the morning and late afternoons. North facing rooms get less sunlight and tend to have a cooler hue while South facing rooms get more light and have a warmer hue. Artificial light provides a constant light source and maintains color consistency. Standard light bulbs give off a warm hue, while fluorescent bulbs can vary based on the variation. Halogen bulbs give a crisp, white light that affects colors less than other bulbs.
Other factors like the size of the room and adjacent colors need to be taken into account when deciding on colors.
Light colors make a room look larger and more open, while darker colors are better for accenting recessed areas and highlighting details. Because white naturally reflects light, it is a popular choice for ceilings. To give a room a more refined look, try painting the ceiling a shade or two lighter than the walls. To pull out attractive architectural features, use lighter or darker colors on trim, molding, or columns. Connecting rooms should share color elements. For example, use the same color on molding in adjoining rooms to unify an open space. For color intersections, generally stop at any sort of natural break in the architecture, such as archways.

Hello I was wondering what color brown is the paint on the picture with the staircase and wooden floor I absolutely it and so do my parents. If you could get back to me I really appreaciate it. Thanks
I wasn’t aware that lighter colors can help make a room look larger and more open. There are a few smaller rooms in my home that I’d love to have repainted. I’ll have to see if I can pick out some lighter colors for those rooms so they won’t feel so small and cramped. It should be fun to try and figure out what colors to pick to pull that off.
