Exterior House Painting Products
For painting the exterior of your home there are only two products you need to decided between. A high end 100% acrylic or a middle of the line 100% latex partial or modified acrylic product. The products we use for our house painting division are Dunn Edwards products so the two we choose between are the premium Evershield and the trusty Versa series. The 100% acrylic paints give better dirt resistance and color retention which in turn makes them last longer, most times 10+ years. The Versa series is a traditional product which gives 5-7 years of life which can be shortened due to heavy dirt or sun exposure. One thing to note, the 100% acrylic formula in Evershield gives it a bit of a glow even with a flat sheen while the Versaflat is a true flat product.
Exterior Commercial Paint Products
For Commercial paint products it is best to always use 100% acrylic paints. The higher traffic seen at commercial properties requires the sturdier paint product. But you don’t have to use the premiums to get 100% acrylic and shouldn’t use them in most cases. Like previously mentioned premium acrylics have a sheen even with flat products. Any sheen makes touch ups a nightmare while truly flat paints are easier to match and hide repairs best. So for most Commercial applications we recommend a product like Dunn Edwards Acri-hues. It gives you the toughness of Acrylic but with better touch up ability and less visible surface flaws.
